ABOUT

Designer Prashant Goyal was fascinated by design, colors and fabrics at an early age. His parents founded their designer Indian clothing store, Dress Shoppe II in the East Village over 40 years ago. While he was in school, Prashant worked in the family business during weekends. Although he studied business management, fashion design was always in his blood. He and his family opened Heritage India Fashions in 2017.

Prashant has an extensive team of tailors, fabric suppliers and embroidery artisans in India to bring his designs to life. He creates one of a kind pieces from rare and new fabrics. He also works with natural fabrics that are eco friendly for his clientele. He designed an organic cotton line. Over the past twenty-five years, he collected unique fabrics such as his 18th century rich silk fabrics with gold and silver work. These unique fabrics allow him to design pieces that are exclusive to Heritage India Fashions

Prashant's wife, Ruchi is his partner and the Creative Stylist of Heritage India Fashions. She combines different colors and clothing to create a one of a kind look for their clients. She studied at Delhi University India. She is also the lead designer of their crochet fabrics.

Prashant and Ruchi have worked with a variety of Hollywood and Bollywood stars. Prashant designed pieces for the film Eat Pray Love, staring Julia Roberts. He also worked with Glenn Close, Martha Stewart, Priyanka Chopra and many more celebrities. Shri Zakir Hussian, the Tabla Player, also shopped for pieces of their organic cotton line as well as a few formal pieces. Prashant also designed an Anarkali gown for Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney.

Ruchi styled Rachel Weisz, when she and Daniel Craig came to the store to purchase formal Indian wear for a party they were attending.

Ruchi also styled Selenis Leyva from Orange is the New Black and her daughter, who needed outfits for an Indian party. Ruchi creates one of a kind looks based on the client's style and personality.
